Approach

Why Jung, and how a reading is made.

Carl Jung spent sixty years mapping the inner life. His ideas remain some of the most useful we have for thinking about why we react, repeat and dream the way we do. depthcoach applies them, carefully, to your own answers.

Why Jung

Jung’s analytical psychology treats the psyche as something to understand, not something to fix. It names experiences most people recognise: the role we play at work (the persona), the parts we push away (the shadow), the function we lean on and the one we avoid (psychological type), the charged subjects that catch us off guard (complexes). Once named, they become easier to notice.

Jung also insisted that every psyche is particular. A good reading starts from your words, not from a category.

What the reading draws on

Each of the 37 questions reads for one of Jung’s ideas. Your answers are read against a library of concept notes on analytical psychology, written for depthcoach, and the reading is drafted by an AI model working within those notes.

Every insight names the idea it rests on, so you can read further yourself. A quotation appears only when it can be matched word for word to its published source.

How a reading is checked

Before you see a reading, it is checked: quotations must match their source exactly, and diagnostic labels, type codes and predictions are taken out. A second safety check reads the finished text.

If anything in your answers suggests you may be at risk, the reading is paused. You are shown where to find support, and you are refunded in full.

What it is not

  • Not therapy, counselling, diagnosis or treatment. It doesn’t replace a licensed professional.
  • Not a personality test. There is no score and no four-letter type code.
  • Not an archetype quiz. Jung’s archetypes are patterns in the psyche, not labels for people.
  • Not a prediction. Dreams and images are read for what they may show about now.
  • Not for anyone in crisis, and not for anyone under 18.
